Stormy Piper of the Vinyl Highway Band


Guitarist, Lead and Rhythm

Stormy started playing guitar at age 15 after seeing Lynyrd Skynyrd in their first-time appearance in Chicago.

Picking up a Gibson Les Paul Custom, a 1968 Black Beauty, he taught himself to play guitar by ear.

By 1975 he was playing with the band Tailspin, opening up for Capricorn recording artist Captain Beyond.

He has continued to play for audiences in the Chicago land area for over 30 years and has been lead guitarist for a number of rock bands such as Cook County Band, Restless Nights and Rough Cut.

A versatile musician, he likes playing the blues, classic rock and southern rock, with his main influences including Duane Allman, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Alvin Lee and Jeff Beck.
